NeurIPS 2020 competition and demonstration co-chairs

It’s our great pleasure to announce the NeurIPS 2020 demonstration program. We particularly like this track of the conference. That’s because, first, it is one of the first places where we can see how new and exciting research ideas could develop into new tools or products, and second, demonstrations are a great way to ask new questions and initiate new research ideas.

This year’s set of demonstrations fit this description beautifully. The accepted demo program includes creative tools for supporting human data labeling, intuitive visualizations for state-of-the-art models, novel interactive-design mechanisms, musical composition tools, and a variety of demos putting in practice state-of-the-art ML (e.g., federated learning and explainable ML).

With this year’s NeurIPS being held virtually, we asked demonstration authors and reviewers to put special emphasis on demos that leverage the online format. As a result, most demonstrations will provide online access to their demos during the session, a format that increases the hands on experience and without the burden of bringing your own laptop.

We are also innovating on the demo-presentation side. First, there will be a live stream of demo presentations on two of the conference days. In each session, demo presenters have time to showcase their demo, and to do a live Q&A and answer questions from the audience. In addition, demo presenters will have their demos running throughout the conference. Do check them out and get in touch via chat for additional discussion about each demo.

The demonstration track is indebted to the fantastic reviewers who provided valuable feedback and helped us put together an exciting program for you. All reviewers are acknowledged here.

We and all demo presenters are looking forward to welcoming you at this year’s demonstration track!
